Déprez, G. (2020). The human factor in industry 4.0. Workshop at the Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF 2020) in carier panel, September 2-6, Trieste, Italia.

Abstract: Technological and technical aspects represent the driving forces behind Industry 4.0. However, the transformations related to the 4th Industrial Revolution create new organizational environments impacting on the workers behaviours, job characteristics and career development. Moreover, it is commonly believed that people remain the main actors of Industry 4.0. This Workshop proposes thus to explore the role of Humans in industry 4.0, using the organizational behaviours perspective.

First, results will be presented from ORganisational BEhaviour with new TEChnologies: a human resources management model for industry 4.0 (ORBETEC), an MSCA research found by the H2020 European program. Second, a research about learning and innovation processes for enabling the adoption and exploitation of Industry 4.0 related technology will be also presented. Then, to analyse the ongoing and emerging facets of the human factor in industry 4.0, four Ph.D. students will each present their subject thesis:

• Employment environments in the age of AI: Impacts on work design and motivational characteristics
• Technological awareness and protean career orientation: improvement of learning behaviours and improvement of career strategy for Industry 4.0.
• Professional skills for Industry 4.0: emergence processes of professional competencies
• Job design perspective in Industry 4.0: how digitalisation help workers influencing their work environment.

The session on the one hand, will aim to answer questions generated by the panelists during presentations, and on the other hand, to develop exchange on unexplored perspectives with the public. Speakers are part of an international research team working in close collaboration with UmbraGroup, and respectively directed by the Pr. Carlo Odoardi (Università di Firenze), the Pr. Adalgisa Battistelli (University of Bordeaux), and the Pr. Jean-Sébastien Boudrias (Université de Montréal).
